Trying to find lodging in Bacharach for 1 night on June 13th. So far, the Hotel Kranenturm and Pension "Im Malerwinkel" are both booked. Looking for recommendations. Thanks!!
We stayed at Pension Lettie from Rick's book and thought it was just fine, with a great location.
Brian, I'd also suggest trying Pension Lettie. It's only a short distance from Hotel Kranenturm and the rooms are very comfortable. Lettie is a wonderful host, and the Waffles at breakfast were fantastic! Would you consider staying in a Hostel? You could also try Burg Stahleck, which is located on a hill above the town. It's a bit of a hike, but the views are awesome! You might check the Germany Guidebook for other lodging suggestions. Good luck and happy travels!
Hotel Hillen is next to Hotel Kranenturm and has (or did a few years ago) reasonable rates. If you stay there ask for the quiet side (back) as the train comes right in front of the hotel. It (train) did not bother us from the back side.
The town website, www.bacharach.de, lists 15 hotels and 13 pensionen. Many include email addresses and website URLs. In addition, St. Goar is only a few minutes away by train and has many other places listed. The St. Goar website includes a booking calendar you you can see in advance who has places available. Hotel am Markt is conveniently located and shows places available for June.
Thanks everyone so much! I just confirmed my night at Pension Lettie. Simply based on her e-mail reply, I can tell she's going to be a very fun person to talk to!! Thanks again.
