Lodging in Aachen

I am looking for a recommendation of a hotel close to the main train station in Aachen. My husband and I will only be staying one night in Aachen while in transit from Paris to our final destination of Geilenkirchen, Germany where my cousin and her husband are stationed with the USAF.

I don't know any specific hotels, but I would recommend looking a little closer to the city center near the cathedral. The area around the train station is pretty bland.

I do not know proximity to the train station but do have two suggestions for a stay in Aachen:
Art Hotel Superior or the Youth Hostel

Last summer we stayed in Aachen, arriving in the evening and just using it as place to sleep. My husband and I wished we had gotten there earlier in the day. The old town is quaint and the historic sites are not open in the evening.

My husband and I stayed in the Arts Hotel Superior, which is very modern and reasonable, except breakfast is not included. It is located in a residential area.

Our 20 year-old children stayed in the youth hostel and we ate breakfast with them. They had a good experience and there were adults of all ages staying in the hostel. It was a nice setting and apparently the rooms were quite nice. They were fortunate to get a room for just the three of them. (Possibly the same might work for you if you contact them ahead of time.) The bus system made access to downtown easy for them to return late in the evening.

Enjoy! It is a town I would like to revisit.
