Hi, I will be in Spain for 6 weeks later this year. Can anyone tell me whether local sim cards (data and voice) are easily and cheaply available for my unlocked Samsung smartphone? I've been researching all over the net but figure it's easier just to ask those who have been to Spain. I think I need lots of data and some voice...data to see if the Smartphone is really that smartphone that it can translate for me and serves as a tour guide and when a wi-fi hot spot is not available. Thanks. p.s. the voice is just for calling local places and not for calling home. Thanks.
Susan, I'm assuming your "unlocked Samsung smartphone" is a quad-band GSM model? It would help to know which cell network you're with in the U.S. Be sure to check that the Charger is designed for use on 220 VAC electrical systems. Plug Adapters will of course be needed. I'm not too familiar with the cell networks in Spain or whether they offer PAYG voice + data plans. Hopefully Paul or one of the others will have some information. Happy travels!
I am with AT&T in the US and they told me my unlocked phone should work in Spain. Thanks for the reminder about the charger. Am putting it in the suitcase now.
