My husband and I will be traveling to Portugal, Spain and Italy in a few months. We would like to know which way is best to travel out of Lisbon to Seville (train, bus, car, plane, or a combination…)? We were planning to take the train, but we are not sure about Portugal's train system. We want to take the fastest way, but with reasonable price. Thanks
Lisbon looks deceptively close to Seville on the map. It is not close in terms of hours on the train or bus.
There is an overnight train to Madrid and a fast train from Madrid to Seville. Many people also spend a day or two on the coast of Southern Portugal, and make bus and train connections to Seville.
If you are not interested in any of the places in between, you should investigate flying.
I will be in Lisbon soon, going from there to Sevilla. I plan to fly from Lisbon to Madrid, then take AVE train to Sevilla. It's pretty cheap to fly from Lisbon to Madrid on Vueling (around 50 euros one way, last time I checked). I like to take the train, but with limited time, don't want to spend all day or night on a train, would rather fly if it's more than a few hours away. Have no idea how much it would cost to take the train.
Good luck.
