Can anyone recommend the best source of tranportation for a day trip from Lisbon to Fatima and back. We are traveling the first week of May.
If you want a different cultural experience, just walk into a travel agency on your first day in Lisbon and find out if a bus tour fits into one of the days of your week. Even if the tour is in Portuguese, you won't miss much of the actual commentary. I spent several hours in Fatima and one would have been enough... even the pilgrimage site is huge. Make sure that you find the vending windows on the side where you can purchase votive offerings, such as candles and wax limbs (yep- feet and such).
You can take a train or a bus. The journey is less than 2 hours whichever you choose. Bus info (in Portugese only, but you can see the schedule): www.rede-expressos.pt/ Train info (has an English option): www.cp.pt
thank you
