Any recommendation for hotel on or near Rossio area? Being able to walk or access public transportation is important. Looking for quiet rooms in hotel. If not Rossio area, next best location you can suggest?

We recommend Hotel Florescente. It is also recommended by RS. You can check it out at booking.com. The Florescente is on a pedestrian street and in walking distance to the metro, bus and electric car, and the train station. It's near the Rossio, Praca da Figueira, and Rua Augusta, another famous pedestrian street. A great breakfast is included in the rate. Although they have a restaurant where they also serve lunch and dinner we have never eaten there. We have stayed there many times and always enjoy our stay there.

We stayed at the Hotel Lisboa Plaza, which is about a 5 minute walk up the Avenue Liberdade. Very nice. It is close to the subway stop Avenida.

I second Carol's reply. I have had multiple stays at Residencial Florescente and would go back in a heartbeat. Location is perfect (exactly what you described you are looking for). Room was basic but fine. Staff was friendly and helpful.
