Will be spending 5 nights late March. Any suggestions for safe, clean, reasonable lodging near sights/transportation? How about restaurants and out of the way sights?

We stayed at a small hotel we found in RS guide book-Insulana, I think. The location was great and the room was clean, quiet, and the staff very accommodating. There is an elevator and breakfast was included. There are many restaurants within walking distance and we had very good meals. Bonjardim (roasted chicken place) is not to be missed. You can take a train to Sintra to see a castle and Pena Palace. The Gulbenkian Museum and a visit to Belem are definitely places you should include.
