Hi any favorite hotels in either of these places? I'm reading and reading and getting confused. Price point would be about 100-150 euros, any thoughts. I would like to be walking distance to main sights.

in lisbon - try residencial florescente. (sp?). i have stayed there 4 times. friendly staff and great location. where in the algarve are you staying? i was in lagos. we stayed at solar de mos. it is located slightly uphill from town. great place though and would stay again

We second Hotel Florescente in Lisbon. It's on a pedestrian street and within walking distance of many pracas, sights, metro station, train station, and lots of restaurants. In the Algarve we have stayed in Quarteira at Hotel Dom Jose. You can check both of these out at booking.com.

In Lisbon, another vote for Residencia Florescente. Great location, good service and very close to Bom Jardin where you can eat the best chicken in town!!!

Add another for old world style Residencial Florescente. Location is superb and the nights we were there they had seranading in the streets below.
Truely a unique experience.

I'm open to suggestions for the Algarve for towns and hotels. Tt's our first trip to Portugal and we want to get the most out of our vacation
