We are considering this apartment, although I haven't looked at many: http://www.vrbo.com/339804 Is this a good location? We are two moms traveling with our 14 year old daughters.
Thanks!
I have not stayed in the 4th, but many people love to stay there in the Marais. This apartment is a 4th floor walk-up. You do understand that means it is on what we would consider the 5th floor, and no elevator, right? I like staying in the Latin Quarter (5th). It is a lively area and I think it would appeal to teenagers. Just a suggestion, but if you are wanting input regarding an area it would be helpful to let us know where you are talking about. You might not get many replies if you make people look it up.
This location is good because it is very central. It is a busy area. In looking at the pictures and reading the reviews, this apartment has one small bedroom (not three as indicated) plus a good sized living room with a sofabed. I don't necessarily think that the owners are being dishonest but rather, may have a language problem (Japanese wife/french husband). I think that they mean three beds (not bedrooms): one in the living room, a sofabed in the living room and possibly a foldaway or day bed? I would suggest that you call the owners or email the owners and ask them directly. It is definitely inexpensive for Paris. At first I was sceptical but a Paris landline number is a good sign. Good luck.
Not bad but I'd continue looking. Might find something better. The question about Paris apartments is asked often so a brief culling of past posts would provide a wealth of options. Besides VRBO I'd take a look at the airbnb website (you talk direct with owners). This is another option. http://www.feelslikehomeinparis.com/ Lastly, I'd also get a RS book on Paris as it describes the various arrondissements (neighborhoods) and will give you a better idea of where to search for your apartment.
Since you asked about location, not anything else: It's as good as you can get.
I've seen much nicer apts, this one doesn't look charming or welcoming to me. Listed under "Beds" it says one double, and one sofa bed. Is that ok with you? Price looks reasonable but it says that's for 2 people, each add'l person is another 25 euros each, but doesn't say per night or per week so it's unclear. If you go to ParisNotes.com there's a long list of reputable agencies in Paris. We've used ParisAttitude.com twice and were happy. Another recommended co. on the Helpline is VacationInParis.com. The 4th arrondissement is good, I also like the 5th and the 6th for hotels / apts. And my apologies to Ed, he's right, all you asked about was location but I'd hate for you to get there and be miserable.
Thank you for all of your helpful posts. I've worked so long and hard on the Italy portion of our trip, that I just wanted to find something quickly! And I've only been to Paris once but don't remember anything about different areas. I've looked at probably 75 apartments in Paris, and sent many inquiries, but most don't rent for 3 days only. Didn't have a problem with this in Italy.
Anyway, probably will keep looking. Appreciate your help!
Let me share a site when I was researching for my past Paris trip, and they got some fantastic pats and price with clear descriptions. http://www.bedandstyle.com/index.php/en The place you are looking at looks nice also. But I bought it's 3 bedroom. 545 sqf... 3 bedroom? Sounds like a language barrier, and was meant to say 3 beds. 2 in the room and one sofa bed. plus every apt in Paris has security code and entry phone, don't feel you are extra secured with that statement.
but with that price with what you get. it's still not bad.
so many typo I made: doubt not bought.
apts not pats.
not sure why the extra / maters but here is the right link: http://www.bedandstyle.com/index.php/en/
