I'm interested in going to Leuven from Brussels. Is it worth checking out for a few hours? Does Stella Artois give tours?
Ah, finally, someone asks a question about Leuven. In my own biased opinion, yes, very worth a visit. If the university is in session (and it isn't raining), spend some time sitting outdoors at one of the cafes on the Oude Markt. You'll see a wonderfully lively, but not too rowdy crowd of hundreds of students, and you'll be the only American there.
As for Stella, they only offer pre-arranged group tours, and the emphasis is for potential business partners, not tourists.
I love me some Leuven! Definitely worth some time, especially in the evening sipping suds. The main square there is amazing!
Be aware, as mentioned, it is a college town (which is a plus to me, but not to all).
** Edit: Although I agree it isn't rowdy, I recall a night in my youth with people dancing on the bar and table tops. Strangely, I don't recall much more of that night.
