Les Baux de Provence: Festival of Stone and Heritage in October, thoughts?

My good friend and I are taking a trip to France in October and are planning on spending a day in Les Baux, which I'm very excited about. After looking at their official tourism site I see that there will be a festival while we are in the area, "Festival de la pierre et du patrimoine."

Anyone ever been? Is it worth it? Better to dodge it? Thanks for any help!

Never been to the festival and don't know about the crowd aspect, but I think Les Baux is definitely worth a visit all on its own merits.

The castle is nothing more than a ruin, but is was strategically situated. The distant scenery is magnicant. The history is interesting verging on being regionally significant. The village itself is a rebuilt tourist trap of the worst kind; pretty much negating everything good about the place. Tour buses disgorge throngs by the minute. Early morning or late, late afternoon are the best times to visit.

I've never heard of the festival, but judging by when it is, it's nothing more than a gimmick to attract more people after the normal tourist season has pooped out.

Unless the festival turns out to be really great, you'll be bored out of your skull in a couple of hours.
