We are trying to find an inexpensive place to stay in or very near Leiwen Germany. I have emailed 25 places and have only received 2 responses. Can you recommend a place to stay? I have the Rick Steve's Germany book but there are no lodging suggestions for Leiwen. Thanks.

Lori; We stayed for a week in a resort in the hills above Leiwen. Here is a link to the resort: http://www.landal.com/ We did it thourgh an exchange with our membership in RCI so I don't know how much it costs. We drove through Leiwen and the town is very small. I didn't see any obvious hotels, but there may be some B&B's. You could also check to see what is in Trittenheim. This is a town across the river from Leiwen. http://www.trittenheim.de/ We loved the week we spent there. We drove all up and down the Mosel and loved it all.

I'm very surprised there are 25 places in little Leiwen! If you're writing in English, it's very possible that owners only do German; also, the smaller, privately-owned establishments tend to be owned by older folks who may have an email address but simply don't use it and prefer the phone. I haven't stayed in Leiwen. I suggest you contact the tourist office. Someone there likely speaks/writes English and will be able to help you find what you're looking for. Thanks I will try that. They sent me a booklet which is where I got the email addresses. They aren't all in Leiwen -but in the area. I'll keep trying-it's worth the effort when you find a great place to stay.
