Leaving in 11 Days

WOW, I can remember planning our trip to Switzerland and Rome back in February which seemed a lifetime ago. We depart out of Dallas/Ft. Worth on Fri, Sept. 4th. We are staying in Wengen for a week then headed to Rome. I have followed Rick's packing list for women but hope that we don't forget anything. Plus, I have never been overseas and this will be the longest plane ride I have ever been on so I'm a bit nervous about that. Thanks for all of the info and suggestions.

Hi Christie,

As long as you have your passport, anything else you might forget can be purchased in Europe! For the long plane flight, use some of the time to study maps and your guidebook so you'll be familiar with the regions that you're visiting and all that they have to offer and then, try to sleep if possible.

I always like to bring a water bottle that I can fill once I'm through security to stay hydrated on the long flight--also some snacks.

You're going to have a fantastic time!

I like to sleep on the plane, especially since most flights I'm on to Europe are during the night Europe-time. So I take Ambien-CR. Also the time difference bothers me for a few nites when I arrive, so again an Ambien a nite for the 1st few really helps me.

Ditto on Sharon's recommendations, especially with the water bottle. And many of the planes now come with touchscreens in the back of the headrests, so you can pick your own movies and shows to watch. Just make sure you get up and stretch every now and then!

I'm also getting ready for my first trip overseas as an adult. I was glad to read everyone else's encouraging posts and someone even answered my question about bringing an empty water bottle.

I second the drinking plenty of water and little to no caffeine on the flight. Stretch or walk around every couple hours. And enjoy!
