My second time to Europe, this time it'll be for 4 and 1/2 months. Backpacking for 3 weeks, then moving into an apartment in Florence...
Here's my final itinerary...
Paris (4 nights, day trip to Versailles) staying in the 6eme
Reims/Epernay (2 nights, staying at Le Crayeres)
Bruges (2 nights, private room @ Snuffel)
Amsterdam (3 nights, staying in a B&B - overnight train)
Munich (3 nights, day trip to Fussen)
Interlaken (3 nights, canyoning, and possible day trip or hike)
Nice (3 nights, staying on Victor Hugo, close to centre and beach)
We have a GLobal Rail Pass for 21 consecutive days.
My only problem is figuring 2 train routes. Do we want to take an overnight train from Munich to Interlaken and from Interlaken to Nice. Both do have stops and are not true night routes.
Munich>Interlaken goes to Salzburg, then you board and a NIght Line train from midnight to 6am and change in Zurich and you arrive in Interlaken around 8:15.
The Interlaken> Nice route is a little trickier. Is it worth wasting an entire day on the train vs. not getting a good nights sleep?
Thank you all for your excellent tips and help!
