We're spending time in Madrid then renting a car to visit Avila and Segovia area before flying out of Barajas. Our flight isn't until noon but we're apprehensive about waiting until the morning of the flight before driving to the airport from Segovia, turning in the car and checking in for our flight. Any recommendations regardng where to stay, either at the airport or enroute from Segovia? Is the town/city of Barajas an interesting place for an evening?

In May of this year we stayed at the Madrid Pullman Feria & Aeropuerto on our last night before flying home. It is on the Metro line, so it would be easy to go back into old Madrid for your last evening; they also have airport shuttle service. My impression of that particular area is that it is very business/commercial oriented - no character to speak of. But we were too tired after a very busy 2 weeks to follow through with our plan to go into central Madrid, and had drinks and dinner in the hotel. Boring, but perfect for what we needed!
