Rick Steves' Paris Guidebook states that it is possible to purchase the Le Passeport for Versailles at an RER station in Paris and that the pass will include transportation. However, I went to the SNCF website, and it says that it no longer sells Forfaits Loisirs (which sounds like the Le Passeport plus transportation). The website is http://www.transilien.com/web/site/accueil/citylien/forfaits-loisirs/Chateau-de-Versailles. Can someone who has recently been to Versailles tell me whether they were able to buy the Le Passeport in Paris and whether it included transportation. The SNFC site also says that the fountains begin on March 21, but everywhere else I have read that they do not begin until the first weekend in April (see http://www.transilien.com/web/EvDetails.do?urlModule=/site/pid/80&idEvent=420807&offline=false). Does anyone know the answer?
Hi Andrea, We went to Versailles in January and I tried to get Le Passeport. I was told it was no longer being sold. We ended up getting our Versailles tickets in advance (at the ticket place where you buy Louvre tickets) and we bought our RER tickets at the station. Buying your Versailles ticket in advance will save you a lot of time when you get there. I don't know about the fountains, as the gardens at Versailles were blanketed with snow when we were there.
Thanks, Andrea. In that case, maybe I'll just buy the tickets online before I go, or use the Paris Museum Pass.
There is also a Paris Sightseeing pass that includes both transportation and museums, you can find it on google but send me a private message if you want me to send you a couple of sites.
