Le Jules Verne Restaurant reservation

We will be having dinner at Le Jules Verne Restaurant in Paris on Friday, 9/28. I made the reservation online in July and received my confirmation right after. However, I made the reservation using an AMEX card and I do not wish to bring that card with me. I have another credit card that I want to use. Since they have already put a charge for 400 EURO on the AMEX card, do I have to use that one? I don't want there to be any confusion.

Have you tried calling or emailing them? Probably the horse's mouth would be more accurate than a bunch of us travelers.

I have not tried to call and you cannot respond to their e-mails. I think the 400EUR must be some sort of deposit for the reservation. If we don't show, then we'll be charged. I thought maybe some recent travelers have had the same experience of reserving online and paying with another credit card. I'm thinking it will probably be ok to just let them know when we confirm our reservation a day or two before.

The 400 euros is probably just a hold on your account not a charge as such. Have you checked you AMEX bill to see if the 400 euros appeared on your
August statement?

There have been no charges to my Amex card. I plan on calling them, though, just to make sure.

It is probably just a hold for a no-show, but you should be able to use any credit card. I've never been asked for anything like that at a restaurant in France, only at hotels. But I've never eaten at restaurant of that notoriety.

Wow how expensive is the Jules Verne restaurant that there would be a 400E deposit required? Sounds like another Paris scam ;-)

Hi Patricia, We did it in 2010. I used my amex card for the reservation, but my husband picked up the tab on his Mastercard. No problem. The $400 is for no shows. The table is yours for the entire evening. We had a wonderful meal and the service was incredible. I reccomend go up to the top after your meal, no waiting in long lines. I hope you have a marvelous time.

Marilyn, Thank you! I was hoping someone had the same experience! We do plan on going up to the top after dinner. I know it will be very expensive, but in my mind, worth it!!
