The rolling laverder fields seem to be a icon of Provence in France. Is there a special time of the year when they bloom? I would like to see them when I go to next year.
I believe June is their peak time.
We saw the lavendar blooming in June a few years ago, but they were harvesting very early due to extreme heat. Generally July is harvest time. So long as you don't go in early June, you should be fine.
is there a particular area where you can see the lavender fields or is all basically all over including the arles, nimes, avignon area?
I just got back from Provence and the lavender was in full bloom in the Luberon...particularly around the town of Sault...the Tourism Bureau has a 'lavender map' to drive through..
What if you don't have a car, is it easy to find your way to the lavendar fields on foot, or using public transport?
