We will be staying in Arles for a few days and would love to see lavender fields and buy some products. I have a car, but do not want to drive hours. Any suggestions on where we can get a lovely viewing and perhaps make some purchases at a not very commercialized site? Also, where do I pick up Provence table clothes at a reasonable rate.
Thank you.
For the second part of your question: Wednesdays and Saturdays are Market Days in Arles. I have only been to the Saturday market and it was amazing! Lots fruits, vegetables,
and plants, of course, but also beautiful linens: tablecloths, napkins, bedspreads, etc. Enjoy!
A better answer can be given (about the lavender) if you indicate approximately when you will be there.
I agree with Carol. Arles has an amazing market and is the best place to find linens at a good price. I stayed in L'Isle sur la Sorgue and the TI in town had a brochure with suggested driving routes for vieiwng the lavender fields. We were there in late June and it wasn't yet in full bloom, just beginning to bloom, but it was still a beautiful drive.
We were in Provence a month ago and saw lavender starting to bloom in the garden at the Van Gogh hospital/monastery near St Remy. Not full bloom but nice and worth taking pics.
Thank you for your help. We will be in Arles on a Sat. And look forward to he market.
