Lauterbrunnen suggestion please

Hi, need some advise. I will be heading to Lauterbrunnen for 3 days. and have 2 full days to enjoy myself. One day will be part aside for Jungfraujoch while i have no clue except for visiting the waterfalls. Any idea what to do? Any idea as to where to have meals as well?

Derrick, you posted the same question 3 times. Could you please delete two of them? That way any answers you get will all stay together.

Derrick, you can walked to the falls from lauterbrunnen, the falls will take around an hour to visit, then walk or take the bus to stechleberg, take the funicular to gimmelwald visit the village (we bought some cheese from a farmer it was very good), then walk to Mürren and have lunch there. You can also do this in reverse from Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp it would be easier since you would be going down.

Derreck: You could spend many days in the Lauterbrunnen with all the possibilities there are. For one, know that you will not need a whole day at Jungfraujoch. Go up early (cheaper anyway) and come down before noon. You'll have half a day left to explore. Stop at Kleine Scheidegg; eithet hike the easy trail to Mannlichen and take the cable-car down to car-free Wengen or go directly to Wengen via cog train. Or you could take the cog train from Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald and explore that village (touristy). From either you can catch a train back to Lauterbrunnen. If adventuresome and a hiker, you could hike the Eiger trail from Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald. (Half-day hike)

Another possibility: Take the bus from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg and the cable-car up to Schilthorn, site of Piz Gloria where a James Bond movie was made. It has a revolving restaurant. On your way down, stop in car-free Murren. There's a great restaurant there called the Stagerstubli. If you want to hike, you could take the funicular from Murren to Allmendhubel, take the Mountain View trail (awesome views!!) to Grutschalp and from there either head back to Murren via train or trail for eats or take the cable-car down to Lauterbrunnen.

If it is cloudy in Lauterbrunnen, be sure to check conditions at Jungfraujoch of Schilthorn before heading up to either. They may well be above the clouds, and you could have incredible views of the mountains above the clouds.

When you go to the Jungfrauhoch or the Schilthorn, try to get up there early in the morning because in my experience, clouds tend to roll in later in the day, obscuring the view.

Just note that the cog train from Lauterbrunnen to the Jungfraujoch (Europe's highest train station) takes 2hrs including a train change in Kleine Scheidegg. It's also 2hrs back down. There are nice eating places up there as well as the world famous Ice Palace. I'm betting you would be looking at least 6.0hrs for a round trip to the Jungfrau.

The day we went to Jungfraujoch we got up early, went up to Mannlichen and did the hike to Kleine Scheidegg where we caught the train up to Jungfraujoch. It was a busy day, but was a wonderful day! The hike is AMAZING. We followed the outline in Rick's book. Be sure to do the detour up to the lookout from Mannlichen. The view there was incredible.

Our 2nd full day we went up the other side of the valley and visited the Schilthorn and Piz Gloria. Had lunch in Murren. Earlier that morning we took the postal bus to the waterfalls and explored there. Definitely will return for a longer stay in the valley for more hiking. Have fun Derrick!
