I am having trouble deciding whether to rent an apartment in Lauterbrunnen or Bonigen for a 4 day visit in December and would appreciate any thoughts or opinions from anyone who may have been to either place before.

I'm not familiar with Bonigen but stayed for a week in Lauterbrunnen a few years ago and loved it. The town itself is just the right size - with a few restaurants and a small market. The views are lovely but the best thing is that Lauterbrunnen is such the transportation hub. It is easy to get everywhere in the Berner Oberland from Lauterbrunnen.
I also rented an apartment and cooked a little to save money. Since Switzerland in general is so expensive, eating in is a big help.
