how easy is it to see the area without a car?
In '93 and '01 we stayed at Hotel Elite just up from the train station and enjoyed it. A room with a view is especially nice!
Managing without a car is easy if you're a good walker and can handle hills.
Enjoy! Lausanne was one of my favorite places to live.
