Lausanne or Lucern... Which would you choose?

We're looking both cities for 3 day/2 nights in June. Can you shed some light?

lisa, I'd suggest having a look at the Switzerland Guidebook to see which sights in each city seem most appealing to you. That will be a good start in deciding which city to visit. Both are beautiful cities, but I'd probably lean towards Lucerne. I really enjoyed my visit to the Museum of Transport, and there are also cruises on the lake, cable car to Mount Pilatus and of course a visit to "The Lion of Lucerne" (which Mark Twain referred to as "the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world". When I was there last year, it was during the World Cup so there was quite a "party atmosphere" in the city. That may be one factor that made it such an enjoyable visit. Happy travels!

They both are wonderful so you can't go wrong. Lausanne is quite hilly if you are a walker, both have river/lakes to explore. No covered painted bridges in Lausanne and no mtns to explore. GD luck on your choice. Both are pricey w/ Lucerne prob being a little more pricey. Hope this helps.

Luzern. Just more quaint, more picturesque in my opinion.
