We haven't been successful in finding a place to stay on our last night in Switzerland. We would like to stay in Zurich (fly out at 10 AM)close to the airport and turn our car in the night before, then take a train to the airport the next moring.
Does anyone have recommendations for a clean/cost effective hotel near the airport?
Thanks so much!
There are several hotels near the airport with shuttle services. On our last night before our flight, we stayed at the Zurich Hilton. However, these hotels are a bit expensive (we were on points) and they fill up.
One hint is that the airport train station (Zurich Flughafen) is directly beneath the airport terminal. Thus, it is easy to look several stops away on the train line for a less expensive and more available hotel. In the morning, hop on the train and you're 10-15 minutes away.

Joanne,
We are in a similar situation, except we have no rental car and rely on trains. We found a hotel near the Zurich airport called "Apart Hotel" which is operated by Hilton. It is next door to the airport Hilton and shares a shuttle and services like fitness center, etc., but appears to be a clean, but budget alternative. We got a double room for 125 Swiss Francs per night, which I thought was pretty reasonable. We booked on booking.com
Good Luck!
Lisa
Staying anywhere near the train station would be convenient to the airport. We're staying at Pension St. Josef which gets high reviews. It's also a budget place with family rooms and includes breakfast.
You could actually stay in Luzern since it's only about a 50 minute ride to the airport.
There is an Ibis Hotel 3 miles from the airport, (Europcar is very close to it) that is about $110 per night for two people. It is a quick taxi or shuttle trip to the airport, especially after a full nights sleep. Even Luzern is at least 1:20 by train early in the morning, and one hour, or more depending on traffic congestion, by car. The fast train from Luzern to the airport does not begin running until 7:10 and gets you to the airport at about 8:15. That is a bit tight for a 10:00 am flight.
Happy Travels, Kevin
We are also having a devil of a time getting hotels in and around Zurich. I'm finding out the 2008 Euro Championship in June has taken over many hotels esp. in Bern, Lucerne, and Zurich. You might look at one of the smaller towns around Zurich like Winterthur.
