Last minute trip - Vienna with 22 month old

I have to be in Vienna on business 25 Oct-27Oct. I will be bringing my daughter and spouse and will arrive on 22 Oct and depart on 1 Nov. I only wish to spend 25-27 Oct in Vienna. I am looking for recommendations on kid-friendly activities and budget relaxation for the time before and after. Hallstatt looks our speed but spouse would like to travel to Budapest or Germany or Poland. Thoughts about where to fly in and out? Many thanks - I am so stressed this is so last minute!

I wasn't that thrilled by Hallstatt with our 3-year-old. It's a nice town to wander around, but you don't get to do much of that with a little one. Some of the smaller towns around the Salzkammergut region are GREAT for little kids. We stayed in St. Wolfgang with our little guy. There's a train that goes up the mountain, a petting zoo with elk, and tons of hiking. We stayed in a farmhouse, and there's endless kid-friendly activities there.

You could head through Budapest on your way to the Lake Balaton area. It's a big resort area on a very large lake. It's closer than Also look at www.kinderhotels.com . They are our favorite hotels! You'll love them, your child will love them. You don't have enough time to go further than that (like Poland or Germany).
