I am traveling to Barcelona for the weekend of Sept.23-26 w/ my 16 yr. old daughter and oops mom made a mistake and accidentally booked the hotel, (Hotel Lloret) for the wrong dates. I was able to book an apartment w/ the same hotel for the Friday and Sat. nights but I'm stuck for the Sunday night. Evidently there is a festival on that weekend. Any ideas from all you fabulous godsend peeps out there?

Have you tried contacting the hotel and seeing if they'll cancel SUnday night without penalty? They might, especially if there's a festival. If not, I sure would make sure (somehow) that they don't rent that room to someone else Sunday!

Sept 23-26 is right in the middle of the La Merce festival (Sept 22-26). It's one of Barcelona's biggest. I would imagine the hotels and other accomodations will be hard to get. And, you can bet the rates will be up as well.

Should I try the last minute.com sites or wotif.com? Or does anyone know other such sites that put extra rooms up they haven't sold??Can't believe I've done this!!

Anna, you can also try "plan C". Cancel everything in BCN (if a phone call to the hotel can't straighten it out) and book a room at the coast in the town of Sitges, 20 Kilometers away, and served regularly by train(every 20 minutes). It is a beautiful coastal town. You could go to Trip Advisor and check out fellow travlers reviews/reccomendations of lodging choices.

Thanks everyone. I just received an email from the hotel saying they've had a cancellation and can accommodate us. I do like the small seaside town advice though!
