Lake Como--Luzern or William Tell Express

Has anyone here had travel experience from Lake Como to Luzern by train (Lake Como--Lugano--Luzern)? Or is anyone did the reverse route (Lugano--Luzern) for William Tell Express train?

We have taken the regular Intercity train on that route-Lugano to Luzern with no changes in 2.5 hours. There are several each day. The William Tell route adds a boat tour that adds quite a bit of time to the trip. Depending where you are on Lake Como, you may have to take a bus to Lugano or a train to Milan to start the trip.

Hello. My husband and I took the William Tell boat from Lucerne and the train over to Lugano. It was a beautiful trip. We stayed in Lugano for four days. We took day trips to Lake Como, Lake Maggiorre and to Milan. We found staying in Lugano very convenient. We then took another long bus and train from Lugano back up to Zurich. The bus went through Lake Magiorre and then we boarded a train back to Zurich. It was a spectacular trip. I can't rember what the train was called.
