Labor Day travel in France

I will be in France during the French labor day holiday, which will fall on a Sunday in 2011. I plan to travel by train from Paris to Sarlat on Saturday, April 30. Do most French usually travel on the Friday before Labor Day? Is there anything I need to know about train travel during this holiday weekend? Would I be better of traveling on a Friday or Saturday?

You're talking about May 1st, right?
Both Friday afternoon and Saturday morning are heavy travel times. Try Friday morning.
