La Rive Gauche- accomodations

Any suggestions for a good mid-priced hotel within the Left Bank Area in Paris?

There will be three of us, late November, for 4-5 days. We're not to picky. I stayed in Rue Cler last time and would like to experience a different part of the city.

I was considering Montmartre but I think that may be too far out of the way.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Hello, again, Gwen ...
... a friend just returned from Paris, having taken a room at Hotel Relais Saint-Sulpice. She reports being quite comfortatble there and recommends the place. We're not so sure it is mid-priced though ... the weak dollar sort of makes a shambles of our pricing definitions ...

Gwen,
my family spent about a week at the hotel cluny sorbonne near the university (sorbonne). the pantheon, luxembourg gardens, and cluny museum are nearby, as is notre dame. this extremely well located hotel in the latin quarter is quite reasonable, the people at the desk speak good english, and are pleasant and helpful. it is in the latin quarter, and we all really loved staying there. it's not fancy, but is clean, safe, and very well located. the rates were really very reasonable in 2005.

We've stayed at the Hotel Saint Jacques on rue des Ecoles. It's about 3 blocks from Notre Dame, one short block from the metro. It has balconies and is quite nice. They filmed a scene from the movie "Charade" (Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, 1962) there which was fun.
