La Motte Picquet Paris

Has anyone stayed at the La Motte Picquet Hotel in Paris. I understand it is near Rue Cler, I don't know anything about the Rue Cler area but would like some feed back from someone who actually stayed at this hotel. We are arriving in Paris in September and will be staying in Paris for 5 nights. Looking for a nice hotel for under 160 euros per night.

Thank you,
Greg

We have stayed there twice but the most recent time was about 7 years ago. I understand they have renovated since then so I can't speak to the actual hotel now. However, we liked the location. Just one block from the metro and a grocery store, many small restaurants nearby and just a couple of blocks from the Champs de Mars and Eiffel Tower. The only downside is that with popularity of Rick's books it doesn't seem like a "back door" location anymore. During our visit to Paris two years ago we visited Rue Cler and saw many people toting around his book.

We stayed there about two years ago. The room we got faced the street and was quite noisy. The worst thing was that the bathroom was along the wall opposite the bed. The "door" was a folding one. If you sat on the toilet, your knees blocked the door from closing. You need to be really friendly in a situation like that. It had a very small shower, which was fine, but tight.
