We are planning a trip to Konstanz, Germany (it's 1 hour from Zurich)sometime in November to visit my niece who is going to school there. We'd like to spend a few days with her. One of our travel companions wants to drive to Barcelona from there. Can anyone give me any ideas as to where to stop and stay on the way? It looks like a 12 hour road trip (non-stop) and we have 10 days total. This is probably a strange request but would appreciate any information you can offer.

I would stop in Provence for 2-3 days on the way. Avignon, Nimes, Orange, Aix and the surrounding countryside are lovely.

Are you going home from Barcelona, or do you plan to return to Germany? I ask because the drop off fee for returning in another country can be quite large. If you will be going one way I recommend you do the trip by train unless you have a really large budget. I agree that Provence would be a good place to stop.
