Never stayed there, but thanks for bringing back memories. A friend of mine went there in 1972 and I went to visit her. She was at the Goethe Institut for a full immersion course in German. It is (was) a very nice, plain, simple small town on the lake at the end of a branch line from Munich. I enjoyed my day.

Went through Kochel last year in August. Changed buses. I remember climbing out of Kochel, towards Mittenwald, on a switchback road. At every turn you could see back through to trees to the lake. Beautiful area. Wouldn't mind going there again.
