We will be traveling to Klagenfurt, Austria in the next couple of weeks. Any advice on reasonable and clean accomodations, places to eat and things to do? We will have a rental car, so we can travel a little bit. We will be there for 5 days.
I am also looking for Klagenfurt information. We leave 4 Dec and will arrive very late on Friday, 5 Dec (11PM). We'll be there Sat, Sun and Mon until husband has to go to work in Villach and I venture to Vienna. Any thoughts on a place to stay the night we arrive and then what to do or where to go (we don't have to stay in Klagenfurt if the surrounding areas are more sight see worthy)even though we will not have a car. Thanks for anything you can throw my way, and Mary's of course, since I dovetailed onto her thread.
Although, sadly, we weren't able to spend the night in Klagenfurt, this past March we were staying in Bled, Slovenia, and took a day trip to Klagenfurt.
As for something to do, Mary, since you will have a car, IF the roads are clear of snow it is well worth taking a trip down to Lake Bled for a look around. The drive through the Julian Alps is stunning and the town of Bled - along with the amazing scenery along the lake - is awesome. However, if there is a lot of snow you may not want to chance it - there are steep inclines through the mountain and a few hairpin turns (but if the roads are clear it isn't a big deal).
Ellen, sorry this might not be of any help to you, but regardless, hope you both have a great trip!
