Kids in Europe

All, Looking for a few fun things to do for two boys under the age of 8. We will be in the major cities London, Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam. I have traveled to these cities several times, but never with kids. Museums and the like will most likely not satisfy their want to wonder, run and play. Thanks for your responses in advance.

It will soon close permanently to make way for property redevelopment, but if it's still open when you're in Brussels, bring the kids to MiniEurope. Basically, scale model versions of European landmarks.

In Holland you could check out Madurodam in Scheveningen/Den Haag. It's a miniature park and village. The kids might like it and so might you. It's not very far from Amsterdam. Scheveningen is a beach resort, too.

The gardens of Versailles and environs are great. Biking, paddle boats, walking, tiny villages, all pretty cool stuff for kids.

My 8 yr old son told me the best day of our trip was the last day when the 2 of us just rode the underground and then a bus( admitedly he is a train nut) That said: London transit museum; Tower of London (which we ended up spending an entire day there as they had some great interactive events sucha s watching a joust ), , the London Eye, the War Museum and a musuem about jails near the Globe were big hits. We also found a website that listed the sites used in harry potter so we went to the train station where harry runs thru the wall - they have a cart embedded in the wall and you can take a picture. Great playground in Kensington park. We also did had a great day (stayed over one night) in York - another great train museum, a walk around the city wall and a ghost tour at night
Thanks for bringing back some great memories!

"My 8 yr old son told me the best day of our trip was the last day when the 2 of us just rode the underground and then a bus( admitedly he is a train nut)" Funny enough my son is the same! A trip to any city is not complete without a day spent riding public transport - just buy an all day ticket and go where the fancy takes you. Sometimes it can be dead boring for the adult involved and on other occasion you get to see some stuff you'd never have marked down as worth while...
