We are having a family reunion with 8 adults, 6 children ranging in age from 8 to 1. In late June 2009. Want a place ala Club Med with kids activities and supervision , but ideally something less cookie cutter than Club Med. Any ideas? We are athletic and 4 adults are fluent in French and would love a less "americanized" experience.

Le Cap d'Agde is on the Meditteranean and is about an least "Americanized" as you can get.
You'd probably want to be in good shape to go there. And it is kid friendly.

I know that you are looking toward france...but there are some really fun resorts in Slovenia that would be great for a reunion. We were at Catze Terme last weekend, and they has some kids activities and a great waterpark. My 16 month old daughter loved it.

My family and I have stayed in a Center Parc in France this past summer in the Loire valley. They are nature parks that are perfect for families, albeit a little rustic for some depending on your style. Our kids loved the huge indoor pool with many levels for all swimmers. Here is their website.

Landal parks are another option that are like the center parc but I believe they have newer facilities
Either way you can check each out to see what works best for your reunion and your location of where you are traveling too.
