Kayak booking

We are about to book tickets from Ljubljana to Amsterdam through Kayak on Adria airways. Is this and OK thing to do? or has anyone experienced problems with them either Kayak or Adria? Some people say you should go to the airline itself to book your tickets. Is that really necessary?

Why not check directly with the airline? It might not be any different than what you found, but sometimes booking directly can be cheaper. And you really should check out the airline's website anyway so you can see their baggage allowances and such.

Jerry&Stelly, I prefer to book tickets directly with the airline rather than using booking sites like Kayak, as it seems prudent not to deal through a "middleman". That's the method I always use with EasyJet, Vueling, Aegean or others, and so far it's worked well. There was a story on the news this week about this sort of thing. To summarize the story, if there are any problems with the flight, the booking or whatever, it sometimes becomes confusing to know which party to deal with to resolve the problems. For those booking with third parties, the airlines often won't deal with it, but will instruct customers to go back to the booking agency (who don't seem to be too effective or too interested in dealing with problems in some cases). This is the news story I was referring to.... http://seattletimes.com/html/travel/2022059919_ticketproblemstravelwisexml.html Happy travels!

When you tap the flight on kayak, doesn't the box pop up with prices tied to several booking sites, one being the carrier that's running the flight, then the lights and whirligigs come on saying that you're being redirected to Plumph Airways?

J&S i agree in looking at the airlines directly and check for any differences. i do that sometimes. I use the search engines to do the leg work for me and when i find a good/decent price i will check the airlines directly. If no difference in cost, its a tossup who i use to buy the ticket, but i will usually go with the airline if i can get some mileage out of them. its your $$$ and your time. happy trails.

Thanks for all the reply's The flight is $50 more on the airline itself. So is it worth the extra $50.00.

DO NOT PURCHASE FLIGHTS THROUGH KAYAK I booked flights through Kayak for my family and me for a trip this June. Booking the tickets was easy enough after being redirected to Travelocity. Everything was very simple until I received an email stating that my flight itinerary has changed and to call the Customer Support Center to confirm the changes. It took me five phone calls each lasting over 30 minutes to fix my flight itinerary. The first four times I was told by "Dennis", "Katie", "Ricky", and some other made up name for their overseas support person that they could not get through to the airline to fix my flight. Finally, on the fifth try, I was able to arrange my return flights so that they worked for my travel dates. Great! Done! Now I can get on with my life!! Except, when I get the confirmation email the next day listing my new flight itinerary, I notice that they also changed a flight on the last leg of my outgoing trip so that I am now missing a connector flight to my final destination. This was never reviewed with me during my five phone calls so I have no idea why they changed it to begin with. Now I am in the process of getting this flight fixed. I'm two calls in. The first time, I got the same response, "We're having a hard time connecting to the airline. Please call back." This morning, I just got off a call with "Nancy" where I was on hold for over 30 minutes before my call was picked up. When I explained to her the situation, she said that I'd need to contact the airline directly. What?!! I was very adamant that I would not be doing that since this was their mistake and that they need to own it until it's resolved. After a few minutes of back and forth, "Nancy" finally realized that it is indeed an issue that they need to fix. So, she calls the airline and guess what? She's having a problem connecting and I'm asked to please call back in a couple days. Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER EVER WILL I BOOK THROUGH KAYAK AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
