K-D line

Are you planning to take the 9:45 K-D cruise out of Koblenz? Are you sure you want to do that? If you've already spent 4+ hours or so on the Rhine, another 3+ hours to Moselkern or 5+ hours to Cochem, through pleasant but pretty monotonous river scenery, may just be cruise overkill. Since the Mosel train follows the riverbank all the way to Cochem and gets you there in 35 minutes from Koblenz, you'll see the same river scenery and save some sightseeing time, which you'll want if you're ending up in Cochem for sure. Instead of ending the cruise in Koblenz, where the KD dock is a LONG way from the train station, I'd suggest getting off in the pleasant town of Boppard for the evening - lots of hotels and nice cafes there. Except for Marksburg Castle in Braubach, the scenery between Boppard and Koblenz isn't all that great anyway. The next morning you're about 15 train minutes from Koblenz, where you change for a Mosel train. If you want to see Marksburg, then continue past Boppard and get off the boat in Braubach for the night - only 12 minutes from Koblenz by train. Anyway, the K-D dock is near the Deutsches Eck.
