We decided to take an extra long weekend and go see Bruges again, and this time hit up Brussels as well. Thanks to RyanAir we flew from Pisa round trip w/ luggage for only 50EURO each. Great deal.
Message me if you have any specific questions, here are some highlights.
Bruges - Biking along the canal that goes around the city. Bikes were 7EURO for the day. The leaves were all yellow and covered the ground and the windmills were really cool as well. We went to DE HOBBIT for dinner one night and had a great meal - highly recommend eating there. Across the street is a great bar serving over 350 belgium beers - you cannot go wrong. Also we lucked out with the 2nd Annual Beer Festival. 45 vendors, over 200 beers. 10EURO included a free cup and 6 beers. Awesome experience.
Brussels - MiniEurope was neat, we opted to not go up in the Atomium though. Grand Place was such a neat area but covered with tourist traps. We did lots of research for eating and went to some great places. I don't know the names but if you're interested message me and i'll find them. We did eat at Chez Leon in the tourist area and were glad we did, the mussels were terrific. The beer flowed, and we went to Delerium Cafe that has two levels - bottom floor is the cellar bar, serving 2004 beers by the bottle. upstairs is on tap, serving 25 beers on tap. Cantillon Brewery was a great trip as well, Jean gave us a private tour.
All in all, of the 9 countries i've visited in the past 4 months, Belgium has been my favorite. I will definitely be back!!
