Just Arrived to Paris - Advice

Just arrived to Paris and I'm staying at the Eiffel Kennedy - a lot smaller than the pictures but so far so good - love the free internet. My question is, what are some decent and relatively cheap restaurants in the area? Does anyone recommend the breakfast here for 10 euros?

Also, I bought the Museum pass for two days - The Louvre is a must but since that will take probably the entire day to visit, would Versailles be worth spending the next day for its use?

Thanks in advace.

Keep us posted on your trip--it sounds wonderful! I'd like to know how you used your museum pass and how it worked out!
Best and happy travels!

Most of the bakeries have sandwiches ready in the morning for folks to buy for lunch. But we bought them for breakfast! We felt the need for serious sustanence when embarking on a full day of trekking through Paris! Pastries just didn't make it!

You probably wouldn't get your money's worth only visiting the Louvre one day then Versailles the next. Remember, the main advantage of the pass is that you can bypass the ticket queue at any museum, thus you could potentially fit two or three more sights in your itinerary than you otherwise could without the pass. Because Versailles can occupy an entire daytrip, I would visit there after your pass expires.

I wouldn't consider ANY breakfast worth $13.00!

Either do Versailles or other museums -- such as the D'Orsay, Picasso, Orangerie, etc. to get a good use of the museum pass. Search the internet for sites that give info about restaurants -- there are many. I can't vouch for your hotel's breakfast, but think it is probably equivalent to others I've had. Only you can determine if it's worth it. It is convenient to eat breakfast at the hotel before you head out. But later you might find cafes close by or bakeries where you can get a less expensive, perhaps better breakfast.

Have fun over there!

I like the idea of using your pass to visit other museums in Paris and agree with the d'Orsay, the Orangerie. Also consider the Rodin Museum, Sainte-Chappelle and also use it to climb the Notre Dame Tower and the Arch de Triomphe at dusk to see the lights of the Champs Elysees.

Maybe not exactly in your neighborhood but, couple of inexpensive meals that we enjoyed were Restaurante Sant Antonio (in the Marais but near Hotel de Ville) and L'As du Falafel on 34 rue des Rosiers in the Marais. Also, there are a couple of good crepe restaurants on Ile Saint Louis.

Instead of the 10 Euro breakfast I'd grab a pastry at one of the bakeries in your neighborhood.

Hope you're enjoying good weather and having a great time!!

Thanks to everyone who has replied - I think it unanimous that I do Versailles on a separate day - I still would like to hear more food ideas though :) Those baguettes look so yummy and can't wait to have one later tonight!

By the way, I know some readers of this forum will be arriving in the next couple of weeks - the weather is perfect. Sunny and just a little breeze to warrant a light jacket.

Sergio, on our last visit to Paris we made our breakfasts simple. We would stop by a market and grab a couple bananas, some juice or get a cup of coffee. That kept us going until lunch when we would get something at a small cafe or street vendor. Just a thought. And it doesn't take any time. so much to see.

Most bakeries also have individual quiches that they will heat up for you. If you are like me you can go a lot longer with some protein in you. I missed that in Italy.
