Is anyone there this week or have been to Lauterbrunnen recently? I am going to be there next week and see the weather is still real cold. Getting worried about my hiking plans. Anyone with a scouting report, please respond.
One of the regular Helpline posters lives in Murren (Chris) and another (Mme Eli) just visited in the past few days, although she didn't chime in on the hiking conditions. Here's a webcam that will show you current conditions at Männlichen. It defaults to the Jungfraujoch cam, but you can see Männlichen if you click on the "additional cams" icon at the top of the picture. Unfortunately, it looks like you're out of luck.
I would love to hear from Chris how the hiking trails are right now from Murren to Gimmewald and from Murren to Winteregg and down to Lauterbrunnen?
If you Google " Mürren webcams" you will have a number of choices. The jungfrauregion.ch site has a number of 360 degree cameras a various places. Mannlichen, which is higher than Mürren, has continuous snow cover. But Mürren and below appear free of snow. The Mürren cam, at Hotel Edelweiss, shows green grass all around and no snow patches.
Here is the link to the Jungfrau region webcams I mentioned above: http://jungfrauregion.ch/en/Holidays/NEWS/Webcam Scroll down to Hotel Edelweiss to see Mürren area. You can also check out Wengen, Grindelwald, grindelwald/First, and Mannlichen, and see the peaks all around. And here is another right at Mürren, at Hotel eiger near the train stations: http://www.hoteleiger.com/seiten/livecam.htm It is late in th eday there now, but when I looked earlier it seemed like a nice day there.
Thanks everyone!! Those webcam shots are amazing. Looks like we will be able to do the hike. It will be colder than I planned, but at least the trails are open. I appreciate all of your comments and links.
