Jungfrau, Schilthorn help

I'm planning to visit both the Schilthorn and the Jungfrauhoch in August. I have a Eurail pass that includes Switzerland.

Does anyone know what the cost is to go from Lauterbrunnen to Gimmelwald? To the Jungfrauhoch from Lauterbrunnen?

Basically, I'm having trouble planning a 3-4 day stay in the region. Our must-sees are Gimmelwald, the Schilthorn and the Jungfrauhoch. We're not sure how much the gondolas are going to cost and how to minimize those costs.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

From Interlaken Ost into the Lauterbrunnen Valley and up to the two mountain tops, your Eurail pass will only get you a 25% discount on all fares. For the post bus, it's zero. I have this information directly from Swiss Rail.

To see the current retail fares for the valley, CLICK HERE. The fares shown are from Interlaken Ost. To find fares inside the valley, just subtract the fare from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen.

Joe,
You will love this area, it is so beautiful! I drove to Lauterbrunnen by car and took the gondola to the top of the Schilthorn. It was Oct. last year so it was cold on the top. We took the gondola down to Murren and then hiked all the way down to Lauterbrunnen. It is a beautiful hike down. We stopped and had a picinic on a bench. It is breathtaking! We walked through Gimmelwald on the way down. The Jungfrau was great too. We hike to the hut at the top. You can have lunch or a beer. We then took the train down part way and hiked for a while. You will love both Mountain tops. Have a great trip. I used the flexi swiss pass and it saved us quite a bit. (25-50%) I got the fees on the Rick Steves website for the eurail pass section. It is a expensive area to visit, but it is worth the cost. Make sure you go to the Jungfrau and Schilthorn on a clear day.

The response to make sure you go up on a clear day is sometimes hard to accomplish. We waited two days to go up Jungfraujoch without success. The road up was closed.

My advise is to go up the first day you are there if it is clear. Don't wait expecting every day to clear.
