Jungfrau cost

I'm looking for a mountain train trip from Interlaken. The one that we would like to go on is to Jungfrau. Would I need a one-way or a two-way ticket? A two-way ticket would be over $400 for 2. Are there any other mountain train rides that would good sightseeing and inexpensive? thanks

Jason, Unfortunately, the trip to the Jungfraujoch is expensive and of course you would need a return ticket. You may be able to reduce the cost slightly by purchasing one of the Swiss Passes, either the Half-Fare Pass or perhaps one of the Jungfrau region passes. The trip to the Jungfraujoch is very unique, especially since most of it takes place inside a mountain. The only other "mountain trip" in that area that comes to mind would be to travel to the Schilthorn via Cable Cars. You could enjoy a "Martini shaken not stirred" in the James Bond Bar and then a fine hot meal in the revolving restaurant while watching the panorama of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau pass by the windows. To reach the Schilthorn, you'll travel to Lauterbrunnen and then take either the BLM lift and train to Mürren and then from there to the Schilthorn OR train to Lauterbrunnen and then Post Bus to Stechelberg where you'll board the Cable Car. Happy travels!

There's the Brienz Rothornbahn that ascends from the town of Brienz, a little to the east of Interlaken on the Brienzersee. Although it doesn't climb as high as the Jungfraubahn, the view is still pretty nice. And it doesn't ascend through a tunnel, so you have a good view for the entire trip. I'm pretty sure it's somewhat less expensive, although not exactly cheap either.
