This will be our first trip. How does this plan sound. Fly to Zurich. Arrive Saturday morning and catch train to Berner Oberland. Stay in one hotel until the following Saturday. Take train back toward airport and fly out on Sunday. Do train day trips while in Oberland. Where would you stay the Saturday night before our trip home?

If your flight isn't too early, you could spend that night in Luzern---it is a lovely city. There are some trains that go directly to the airport with no changes; many more that require one quick change in Zürich.
Have you looked at the Swiss rail website to see schedules?

Hi Mary,
What time is the flight home? This will help others with suggestions. As Lola stated above, stay in Luzern if it's late morning or in the afternoon. We spent our last night in Luzern.

I would also stay in Luzern and skip the last night in Zurich. We made that mistake last year.
