Jules Verne restaurant in Tour Eiffel?

Has anyone dined at Jules Verne? I know it is spectacularly expensive and reservations must be made 6 mos in advance. I also know the view is equally spectacular, especially at sunset.
My question is it worth the price? Is the food that great? I planning (and budgeting!) to take my mom to Paris for her 75th birthday and want to go first class all the way. Is appropriate attire required?

Anyone been to Altitude 95 one level down? Any experiences or suggestions would be appreciated. Merci beaucoup!

When I was there a few years ago, the mood and setting were spectacular (as were the prices), but the food was adequate. However, Jules Verne has just reopened under world famous chef Alain Ducasse, so hopefully the quality is a lot better. Go for lunch...cheaper and you can see more...dinner is more "romantic." Dress at lunch is casual (no jeans...slacks and nice shirt, maybe sports jacket for men....nice slacks, skirt or dress for women)...dinner is more formal. You go there to enjoy a three-hour dining experience and the scenery...with lunch for 2 at about $250 now (and dinner probably double that), no meal alone is worth it ;) Since it's your Mom, though....(Altitude 95 is more casual in terms of decor, food, and price)

I find the Jules Verne to be over-rated. You are truly paying for the view.

If you are looking for something similar but with less hit on the wallet - I would suggest the following:

Cafe l'Homme - this is across from the Tour Eiffel at Trocadero - beautiful view - decent food. They have recently received a new chef and the change has made this a favorite when I have guests in town.

Musée de l'Homme 17, place du Trocadéro 75016 PARIS
Metro : Trocadéro
RER : Pont de l'Alma
Bus : 30, 32, 63
telephone number : 01 44 05 30 15

Or Restaurant George at Centre Pompideu Beubourg - also a great view with less a hit on the wallet.

We have been to Altitude 95 twice in the past 3 years and have made reservation for this March. The food is excellent and the view spectacular. Lunch for 2, without wine, was about 125 euro. I don't think Jules Verne is worth the additional cost.
