Itinerary Help in Benelux/France

I would like some feedback on must see stops in Belgium. I am traveling from Amsterdam to Paris (4 people)in 14-21 days. I enjoy a relaxed itinerary with no less than 2 days in each location. Here is a basic one for you to help me build on:
Amsterdam(arrive)>
Brugge>
Brussels>
Reims>
Strasbourg>
Paris(depart)>

I haven't decided on car or train yet, but if you could suggest on new cities, sites in these cities, or just towns or sites you would just skip, please let me know. I of course am planning on flying open jaw and really haven't decided on a season, perhaps early spring?

Looks fairly reasonable. I would probably only use rail for your proposed itinerary. All the cities you have listed are either rather compact or have good public transportation systems. Having a car in most European cities is more of a hassle than a benefit.

Echoing the previous poster, if you want to catch the tulip season in the Netherlands at its height, I would probably aim more towards mid-spring.

Just personal opinion, but I certainly wouldn't spend 2 days in Brussels. Have been to Reims and don't know if I'd do 2 days there either. You might need a car to check out more than 1 or 2 champagne houses. Since you do plan to go to Strasbourg, however, I'd definitely try to fit Colmar into your plans (60 mi south of Strasbourg -- quick train ride). You could rent a car there and then visit the villages on the wine trail north to Strasbourg. (Turkheim, Kaysersberg, Riquiwihr, etc). Riquewihr is also very picturesque. Turn the car in at Strasbourg. Colmar is a great little town and quite beautiful. Unterlinden Museum is great also.

Liked Rheims but including Mums (walking distance from downtown) or another champagne spot and a walking tour of city & the Cathedral, one day is plenty. Advice for Colmar is excellent. Loved the city, loved the Unterlinden Museum, loved driving through the Colmar area wine country and visiting a nearby castle which was breathtaking. (Don't have our diary handy, but if you do this, write me off line and I'll dig it up for you.) By the way, we enjoyed Brussels more than we expected- partially because we were there when the King opened his gardens to the public... Grand Place is a perfect spot to have a beer, moules and frites everywhere ,the old World's Fair grounds were a hoot. George, Pittsburgh
