We are flying into Strasbourg on Dec 26 and out of Brussels on Jan 3. We will have 7.5 full days. We have been in Paris before, but want to go back for New Year's. Have been to Bruges as well. This is what I am thinking: - first 3.5 days in Strasbourg/Colmar for touring and Chirstmas markets. Dec 30 and 31 in Paris - Jan 1 in Brussels (last day of Christmas market)
- Jan 2 in Bruges (last day of Christmas market) Does 3.5 days in Alsace see like too much? Are there good day trips if we find we have one day too long, perhaps to a good Christmas market that is still open? Having been to Bruges is there a better day trip from Brussels (Ghent? Antwerp?), preferably where the market is still on. Thanks!
"Having been to Bruges is there a better day trip from Brussels (Ghent? Antwerp?), preferably where the market is still on." Consider Hasselt. Every year, the city hosts "Winterland", which for Belgium, is like the Oktoberfest of Christmas markets. Part market, part carnival, part drinking fest, and very elaborately decorated. Winterland runs until 8 January. Here's the official website: http://www.winterland.be/Winterland-EN.html
