October 2012 we will arrive in Bilbao and travel throughout Spain for 11 days by car before going into Portugal for 8 days. I'd like your opinion on where to go, how many days suggeted to stay. Main places we want to see are San Sebastian, Pampalona, Burgos, Santiago de Compostela, whether by day trip or overnite stay. Please advise of places to see as day trip/overnight. If we shld skip any places I've suggested, etc. We love, seafood, wine, music and people!!! Sandra

Keep moving, spend the night at each place that follows except Guernica. (Read up on Guernica, but also take advantage of the really great market.) One night is plenty for each. Probably two nights in San Sebastian would be nicer. Depending on your arrival time in Bilbao, you might want to spend two nights there. If you think you'll run out of things to do besides the museum, repost and I'll give you some ideas that will last a couple of weeks. After Guernica, head to Lekeitio, then hug the coast to San Sebastian. The list gives you a couple of days left over to fill in when you discover things that interest you. If you have time left toward the end, spend two nights in Corunna, and make day sorties to Ferrol oand Fisterra. Bilbao, Guernica, San Sebastian, Pamplona, Burgos, Santillana, Gijon, Corunna, Santiago. Except for the Gijon/Corruna run (three hours), the driving time for the rest of the days is two hours or less.
