My family of four (including kids age 13 and 10) will be in Barcelona for 5 days in July for a conference. We have a total of 14 days to be in the country. How should we proceed from there? We could also use our extra time in front of the conference, so we don't necessarily have to start in Barcelona.
With eight days or so you can start in Madrid (either before or after Barcelona) and after three days there, do the Toledo, Avila, Segovia loop OR do the Andalucia route (Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada).
Just maybe, you could pull off Toledo and Andalucia, but you'd be pushing it.
Andalucia will be pretty darn hot.
Another option would be to head north from Barcelona, see the Dali stuff, then go into France in the Perpignan/Carcassonne/Perigueux/Dordogne/Perigord area. You'd need a car, but it's an interesting way to spend a week.
