Hello- I posted a few days ago and got such wonderful responses that I thought I would post again now that I have more specifics about our trip. My 10 year old daughter and I are accompanying my husband on a business trip to Switzerland. Our travel dates are 6/17/13-6/27/13. We are flying in to Geneva and I thought we would be staying there since that is where the company is...however, we have since learned that they will be housing us at a resort in Gstaad.(The company in celebrating their 65th anniversary and the conference will take place at the resort) From what I can gather, if is two hours from Geneva in the mountains..is there train service from there to be able to do day trips? If so, what do you suggest? We like hiking, biking, swimming..but also like museums, food and other fun. As always, any suggestions are appreciated. All of our lodging and some meals will be provided by the company. Thank you! Stacey

There is train service to/from Gstaad. You shoulp spend some time looking at the google map of the area and check travel times to some destinations you may like. Trains towards Geneva & west go through Montreux and trains toward Interlaken & east north & south go through Zweisimmen & up to Spiez. Trains run in & out of Gstaad from appx 0500 to 2330 either hourly or half hour hourly during peak times.
Gstaad is on the famous Golden Pass railway. Gstaad being a rather fancy resort, I suspect there will be a lot of activities there and in the neighboring resort towns, all connected by the railway.
