Italy to Switzerland: Help with rail and hotels?

We are a group of 7 Adults and 2 children (age 3 & 5) traveling from Italy to Switzerland starting 16th October. The itinerary is as follows Venice 3 days - Montreux 4 days - Interlaken 4 days - Zurich 2 days in the given order. Our travel will be by train and we will take the following excursions: Montreux (Chocolate train, Zermatt and Glacier 3000), Interlaken (Jungfrau, Mt Titlis). This is in addition to the 3 transfers: Venice-Montreux; Montreux-Interlaken; Interlaken-Zurich. My queries are multiple: 1. What Swiss Rail is suitable? Since there is a Fall Season offer should I opt for 2 consecutive saver passes for 4 days each. Other option is to opt for the 4 day Flexi-pass and then pay for the extra journeys using 50% off. 2. Does going on the chocolate train use a day of the flexi-pass plus reservation or I can pay 50% rate and not use up a day? 3. Apartment in Montreux: I need to choose between Villa Toscane and Villa Eden. Both belong to the same group and allow use of facilities of an attached hotel. Which is the better choice in terms of comfort and location? 4. How do I Travel from Venice to Montreux? Do I book a one way ticket or can I use the Swiss Pass and pay only for the Italian section? How is this done - I need help. 5. Finally I want to know how will the weather be in Switzerland in Late October? Will it be too cold or pleasant during the days? We are staying in the plains and avoiding overnights in Zermatt / Grindewald as it might be very cold. 6. Venice: I am getting an aprtment next to Scala del Bovolo. How good is this location with respect to tourist attractions, restaurants and shops? The other option is 2 suites in San Marco Palace which is more expensive and does have a kitchen. Thanks a lot in advance. Raghav
